Corals and lavenders, cerulean and ochres are feasts for the eyes.\u00a0 The artist is sitting in front of an easel, a mix of acrylics on the palette.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost as though she is immersed in buckets of paint.\u00a0 Even after I enter the studio, Carlie cannot tear herself away from \u201cjust this bit of color here to change the focal point\u201d. While this piece dries, she moves to another painting in progress and touches up the blues before she is ready to talk.<\/p>\n<p>Carlie DeGaetano is also an experienced watercolorist who can effortlessly transform a basic color palette into masterful landscapes and flowers.\u00a0 She says, however, that she is evolving into an abstract painter and mixed media artist and wants to add unexpected \u201cquirks\u201d to her work to make them more fun.\u00a0 Some of her more recent pieces are cityscapes with collaged papers, crooked buildings and rich colors.\u00a0 They are cities that we would all love to live in, filled with life and humor.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, Carlie has exhibited often in their juried exhibitions.\u00a0 Other exhibit venues include the Post Road Art Center in Marlborough, the Amazing Things Art Center in Framingham, Pejamajo Cafe\u2019 in Holliston and at the annual Holliston Mill Open Studios.<\/p>\n<p>Carlie also teaches watercolor.\u00a0 Her painting style comes so naturally to her that students easily gain the confidence they need to learn quickly.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_297\" style=\"width: 228px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollistonmill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/holliston-web-site-photos-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-297\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-877\" alt=\"holliston web site photos - 6\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hollistonmill.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/holliston-web-site-photos-6-218x300.jpg\" width=\"218\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-297\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Iris Garden<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is music in the background, but that is not the focus of the room.\u00a0 It\u2019s all about the color.
