{"id":1049,"date":"2015-08-25T16:17:12","date_gmt":"2015-08-25T20:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hollistonmill.com\/?p=1049"},"modified":"2017-10-25T00:05:52","modified_gmt":"2017-10-25T04:05:52","slug":"inside-the-artists-studio-janine-gerade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.hollistonmill.com\/?p=1049","title":{"rendered":"Inside the Artist\u2019s Studio:  Janine Gerade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Written by Arlene Chaplin:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollistonmill.com\/?page_id=1035\">Janine Gerade<\/a>, jewelry designer, illustrator, teacher, graphic designer and painter, works in her studio at Holliston Mill.\u00a0 Of all these many talents, her true passion is jewelry making.<\/p>\n<p>Janine\u2019s studio is filled with color and sparkles from the beads and semi-precious stones she uses in her jewelry.\u00a0 Paintings hang everywhere, decorating her walls.\u00a0 She is currently on a new path, beginning to paint in the abstract using acrylics and oils.<\/p>\n<p>Overcoming creative blocks is a challenge to all artists.\u00a0 Janine formerly owned a florist shop in Needham and uses the colors and textures of flowers as a primary source of inspiration.\u00a0 She keeps current in jewelry making by attending bead shows where new tools for her craft inspire her to try new techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Her jewelry pieces are truly unique.\u00a0 She uses handmade beads, a piece of art inside a pendant frame, a vintage treasure she found in an antique shop. She has a story about each piece.\u00a0 All the chains she selects for necklaces and pendants are uniquely fitted to each piece and chosen to complement the pieces.\u00a0 She wants all her jewelry to be comfortable on the wearer, no heavy earrings or snagging chains.<br \/>\nThe piece that made the biggest impression on me was a re-work of an old watch.
